Community Action Nepal

Health posts in the mountains of Nepal

For this project, funds were donated to rebuild and refurbish a health post at Bihi ( at 2,130m) on the Tibetan border in the shadow of the seventh highest mountain in the world (Mt Manaslu). The new health post has enabled health workers to provide the local community with healthcare by delivering essential services, minor surgery, dental care, health awareness, family planning, vaccinations and neo/post-natal care.

The post serves a population of over 600 people and people living in these remote mountainous regions face challenging living conditions. The provision of this health post means that local people will avoid a 4-day walk to the nearest road to access transport to the district hospital in Gorkha. This project has had a truly significant impact on the local community and has transformed the lives and health of people living in this village and surrounding area who are isolated and marginalised.
