Henry van Straubenzee Memorial Fund

Bugulumbya Primary School

This is one of the oldest primary schools in the area, dating back to 1924. In 1998 the community of Bugulumbya constructed a 6-classroom block with offices, but ran out of funds before the buildings were completed.

Funds were used to renovate and complete the classroooms, to construct new latrines, supply desks, and to renovate 4 teachers' houses to retain good quality teaching staff. The overall number of pupils is growing whish is important because it shows that the school is being supported by the community. In particular, there has been a large increase in girls attending the school.
